OVERVIEW :
Kolahoi Tarsar Marsar Trek takes us deep inside of Lidder Vally forest and over high alpine pastures, as we venture towards the Kolahoi Glacier to get up close to this mighty Kolahoi Peak (5734m).
The Tarsar Marsar trek begins in the beautiful flower strewn meadow of Aru, and takes us through the rich pine forest of Lidderwat and Satlanjan (a shepherd’s paradise) to the terminal moraine of the Kolahoi Glacier, the base camp for mountaineers.
On this Tarsar Marsar Trek we ascend the ridge opposite Kolahoi Peak to gain spectacular views of the Kolahoi Peak itself, and then retrace our footsteps back to Lidderwat, where we trek across the highland lake of Tar Sar, enjoying the breathtaking views of Kolahoi and the adjacent peaks in the Pir Panjal Range. From sekiwas we retrace our steps back to Aru via lidderwat and then board our chartered vehicle/s and then take to the water with an exhilarating white water rafting trip. Our hike ends in Srinagar, exploring the old town or shopping at the floating market.
A total distance of Tarsar Marsar trek is approximately 50 km from Aru can be covered in 5 to 6 days.
The kolahoi Tarsar Trek talso provides an opportunity to observe the Nomadic Gujars and Bakarwals who travel vast distances to enable their cattle to graze on the rich summer grass.
