OVERVIEW :
This challenging adventure takes in the exquisite natural beauty of Kashmir from on high, the dramatic scenary unfolding before you as you stand amongstthe majestic peaks of the Pir Panjal Range and the Karakoram.
The first section of the trek takes us through the rich alpine forest of Lidder, withits lush green valleys and gushingriver, as we head deep towards the terminal moraine of the Kolahoi Glacier, also known as Kolahoi Base Camp (KBC). We make a short hike to the ride opposite Kolahoi(5734m) for a spectacular view of the peak itself.
The second section of the trek takes us though lush green meadows dotted with innumerable wild flowers and past colourful highland lakes that team with many varieties of trout. We cross high passes, gazing in awe at the breathtaking views of Mt. Hurmukh (5380m) in the Pir Panjal range and Mt. Nangapabath, known as ‘naked mountain’ (8126m) in the Karakoram range.
The total distance of 60 km approximately is covered in 9 to 10 days better acclilimizations and at leisure
The trip also provides an opportunity to observe the Nomadic Gujars and Bakarwals who travel vast distances to enable their cattle to graze on the rich summer grass.
This trip also provides the opportunity to visit several monesteries and palaces in Leh and a Tibetan refugee camp.
